The creative direction for the 5-Minute Film Festival was heavily inspired by the atmosphere and visual sophistication of the Cannes Film Festival. Having recently traveled through the South of France before beginning this project, I was deeply influenced by the elegance, restraint, and cinematic culture surrounding the festival experience there. I wanted to translate that same sense of refinement into this student-led event while still keeping the branding approachable and contemporary.
The goal was to create visuals that felt polished, elevated, and intentionally minimal. Simplicity became one of the strongest tools within the campaign, allowing typography, composition, and subtle visual details to carry the sophistication of the identity system without feeling overdesigned.
For the three individual event graphics, the challenge was maintaining a cohesive visual language while still clearly distinguishing each occasion within the series. Every piece was designed to communicate a unique moment within the festival experience while still feeling connected through consistent tone, structure, and aesthetic direction.
The campaign ultimately expanded across both digital and physical touchpoints, including web graphics, advertisements, and social media assets, creating a cohesive and cinematic experience across every audience interaction.
